Crochet Classes & Workshops

Instructor: Carmen    Cost: $35 

We offer small group beginner crochet classes that are limited to 8 students (ages 16 & up. For students 10-15 contact the shop about private lessons.) 

 The class is one 2 hour session. Students will learn to make a slip knot, chain & single crochet. If time allows, students will learn half-double and double crochet stitches and how to switch colors. Class includes printed stitch descriptions.

Needed materials: 5mm or 5.5mm hook, worsted weight, solid/light-colored yarn.  

 Sessions are taught in-person at Yarn Together and do not include needed materials. Students can bring their own supplies, or purchase class supplies at Yarn Together for a 5% discount. ​

For individual crochet lessons or if you would like to plan a crochet event with your own group of 5-12, contact the shop!

With 15 years of experience as an elementary educator, Carmen has designed the child beginner crochet lessons into small sessions so students are not overwhelmed, but can process new stitches over time. The lessons described below should be scheduled about a week apart. This allows time for students to practice between sessions. 

Session #1, 90 minutes: Cost $30

Students learn how to make a slip knot, chain stitch, and single crochet. During this lesson students learn about the importance of holding tension and discover what method for holding the yarn works best for them. 

Sessions #2 & #3, 45minutes each: Cost $20 each

If a student wishes to continue, during lesson 2, progress from previous lesson will be checked and the student will learn how to make a half-double crochet stitch. Lesson three is organized the same way, expect the student will learn the double crochet stitch.

I used 1 skein of Symfonie Extra Fine 100% Merino Wool in Dried Chiles (180yds per skein) Available at the shop for $19 each + tax. My shop sample is on display if you'd like to see & feel before you purchase.
